            <title>iPhone 3G Finally Available In US Contract-Free</title>
            <link>http://www.jouwnieuws.nl/iPhone_3G_Finally_Available_In_US_Contract-Free.html</link>
            <description>Engadget is reporting that the iPhone 3G is finally available contract-free if you are willing to pay a much higher premium. Without a contract consumers are looking at $599 for an 8GB model and $699 for the 16GB. AT&amp;amp;T has the added restriction that you must be an existing AT&amp;amp;T customer, but Apple (retail stores only, sorry) will sell one to anyone willing to pay the premium. This change brings the model much closer to the prevailing European model where phones are sold as hardware and the plans are handled completely separately.Read more of this story at Slashdot.

            <title>Wii Sports Tennis tournament at Best Buy</title>
            <link>http://www.jouwnieuws.nl/Wii_Sports_Tennis_tournament_at_Best_Buy.html</link>
            <description>Are your hands itching for a challenge? If so, then you're in luck. Participating Best Buy retail stores are hosting a Nintendo Wii Demos and Tournament event on September 16, where contestants can duke it out and display their ball-hitting prowess at Wii Sports Tennis.The event will kick off with a live Wii demonstration by a Nintendo representative, and people can have a chance to try out the Wii hands-on by themselves or with their friends. If you happen to feel lucky on that day, why not participate in the Wii Tennis tournament? The contest is open to the first 32 two-person teams. With a Tournament prize pool worth an approximate retail value of US 359.98 per person, it may be worth a shot. <title>Freakonomics and Wii at Best Buy tomorrow</title>
            <link>http://www.jouwnieuws.nl/Freakonomics_and_Wii_at_Best_Buy_tomorrow.html</link>
            <description>Filed under: Culture, Nintendo WiiThe best-selling novel Freakonomics examined socioeconomic situations with bold statements and shocking revelations. Was it truthful? Depends on your perspective. Was it entertaining? You better believe it.Now one of the boys responsible for Freakonomics, Stephen Dubner, weighs in on the Wii shortage, making a list of five distinct points about the Nintendo Wii. They say Nintendo made a &quot;colossal blunder&quot; in manufacturing and note that &quot;it is unclear if [Nintendo] feel this shortage is a PR advantage or problem.&quot; With the lack of information from Nintendo about anything lately other than how fantastic they are, we're going to say Nintendo is quite happy with their profitable machines. From an economic perspective there isn't anything really negative that can be said. Socially there are the words that get fanboys frothing: gimmick, drought and Gamecube 2.0.The debate will rage on whether the Wii is a fad or not, but the simple truth remains that people are still gobbling them up. Tomorrow, Best Buy flyers will have the Wii as in stock. The Best Buys we contacted said they'll have at least 20 available. So for those still Wii-less, wake up early tomorrow and head on over to Best Buy.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments Source: http://feeds.joystiq.com/~r/weblogsinc/joystiq/~3/110925237/ Alexander Sliwinski</description>

            <title>Wii at Best Buy Sunday April 22</title>
            <link>http://www.jouwnieuws.nl/Wii_at_Best_Buy_Sunday_April_22.html</link>
            <description>If you're still on the lookout for a Nintendo Wii, hop down to your local Best Buy this Sunday really early to get a chance to pick one up. Tipster Ryan tells us that the Wii will be featured in all Sunday ads, and therefore will guarantee at least a 12-unit stock in all stores.

Some stores will have more, but judging from the last time they had a sale, you'd better start lining up before the nurses get off or else you're out of luck. &amp;ndash; Jason Chen

Thanks Ryan!

            <title>Mustang, Redux: Foose Stallion Now Available At Ford Dealerships</title>
            <link>http://www.jouwnieuws.nl/Mustang%2C_Redux%3A_Foose_Stallion_Now_Available_At_Ford_Dealerships.html</link>
            <description>

      We had some other things on our mind a couple of weeks ago, so we've got to apologize to the man, the myth, the marketing maven that is Chip Foose. Foose announced earlier this month his newest creation, the Mustang-derived Stallion, is now available for purchase at all sorts of local FoMoCo dealerships. The Stallion, distributed to dealers by way of Unique Performance, includes all sorts of &quot;unique&quot; performance enhancements like a Ford Racing exhaust, suspension and a &quot;power pack&quot; from Ford Racing that includes cold air induction and ECM recalibrated for premium fuel for an estimated 335 hp. You can also tell Chip's put his manly n' meaty hands on the now Foose embroidered seats, custom sill plates and a signature logo on the dash. Plus, it's got the upper and lower billet grille and those big ol' 20-inch Foose Nitrous wheels so you can spot it from at least some of the other Mustang variants in your dealer parking lot. We're not exactly sure of how to order one of them -- but you may want to try walking up to the front of the store and yelling at a security camera, &quot;I've been Overhauled!&quot; Gallery below and full press release after the jump. &amp;ndash; Ray Wert

galleryPost('foosestallion', 8, 'Foosify My Mustang Gallery'); FOOSE STALLION MUSTANG NOW AVAILABLE THROUGH ALL NORTH AMERICAN FORD DEALERSHIPS

DALLAS - January 5, 2007 - Unique Performance has expanded distribution of the Foose Stallion Mustang by introducing a new base model for all North American Ford Dealerships. Deliveries of the first Foose Stallions began in June 2006 and demand has steadily grown for the stylish, high performance pony car over the past six month. Response to the Foose Stallion led Unique Performance to introduce additional models at SEMA in November 2006.

Designed by Foose and built by Unique Performance Concepts, all custom versions of the Ford Mustang were recently only available through Ford select dealers. Unique Performance Concepts is a joint venture between Unique Performance and the Tecstar Automotive Group, a subsidiary of Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide (Nasdaq: QTWW).

&quot;The Foose Stallion is responsive and fluid, powerful and dynamic, superbly crafted and unmistakably Foose in every element of its design,&quot; said Unique Performance President Douglas Hasty.  &quot;During the first few months of production, many consumers have asked for additional versions of the car.  This new base model expands the Foose Stallion models available so drivers now have the opportunity to own an even rarer custom car.&quot;

Available in coupe and convertible configuration, the team enhanced the handling, styling and capabilities of the current Ford Mustang to create the Foose Stallion. Performance enhancements include a Ford Racing exhaust and suspension and 11-inch rear and 12-inch front DecelaRotors. In addition, Chip's touch can also be found throughout the Stallion. From Foose embroidered seats and Foose sill plates to the Foose ID plate and signature logo on the dash, the famed designer put his stamp on this modern muscle car. Rounding out the modifications is an upper and lower billet grille and 20-inch Foose Nitrous wheels. This base package is available at a MSRP of only US$36,365.00.

            <link>http://www.jouwnieuws.nl/LG_Hybrid_High-Definition_Player_Available_at_Best_Buy.html</link>
            <description>Despite previous reports that LG would not be able to release its Blu-ray HD-DVD Combo Player because the company forgot to include the interactive High Definition (iHD) feature for HD DVDs, the product is ready for ordering on Best Buy's website. Without iHD, the device cannot playback all interactive menus and special features on an HD DVD. Because LG did not respect the HD DVD standard, the company cannot use the HD DVD logo. According to Gizmodo's Brian Lam, the link is working correctly. However, the price tag is a whopping &amp;#36;1,200; more than an HD DVD player and a PS3. Regardless of all the factors hinting that the device won't sell very well, it is reassuring that a hybrid (crippled) player is finally available. At the very least, LG has stomped out a dirt road which the company and competitors can hopefully pave soon. View: Pictures News source: Best Buy (via Gizmodo) Read full story...

            <title>Schedules, meetings gone at Best Buy</title>
            <link>http://www.jouwnieuws.nl/Schedules%2C_meetings_gone_at_Best_Buy.html</link>
            <description>One afternoon last year, Chap Achen, who oversees online orders at Best Buy Co., shut down his computer, stood up from his desk, and announced that he was leaving for the day. It was around 2 p.m., and most of Achen's staff were slumped over their keyboards, deep in a post-lunch, LCD-lit trance. &quot;See you tomorrow,&quot; said Achen. &quot;I'm going to a matinee.&quot;

Under normal circumstances, an early-afternoon departure would have been totally un-Achen. After all, this was a 37-year-old corporate comer whose wife laughs in his face when he utters the words &quot;work-life balance.&quot; But at Best Buy's Minneapolis headquarters, similar incidents of strangeness were breaking out all over the ultramodern campus. In employee relations, Steve Hance had suddenly started going hunting on workdays, a Remington 12-gauge in one hand, a Verizon LG in the other. In the retail training department, e-learning specialist Mark Wells was spending his days bombing around the country following rocker Dave Matthews. Single mother Kelly McDevitt, an online promotions manager, started leaving at 2:30 p.m. to pick up her 11-year-old son Calvin from school. Scott Jauman, a Six Sigma black belt, began spending a third of his time at his Northwoods cabin.

At most companies, going AWOL during daylight hours would be grounds for a pink slip. Not at Best Buy. The nation's leading electronics retailer has embarked on a radical--if risky--experiment to transform a culture once known for killer hours and herd-riding bosses. The endeavor, called ROWE, for &quot;results-only work environment,&quot; seeks to demolish decades-old business dogma that equates physical presence with productivity. The goal at Best Buy is to judge performance on output instead of hours.

      Remember the new Slingbox we posted about? The AV model with composite and s-video inputs? Looks like it's already out at Best Buy.

Zatz went down to Best Buy for lunch&amp;mdash;he's on an all TiVo diet&amp;mdash;and saw the AV staring back at him. According to the side of the box, the Pro and Tuner boxes are coming soon, with the Pro model supporting HD and multiple sources, and Tuner supporting cable and antenna. The surprise was that the AV model supported OS X and Symbian. Weird. Guess their engineers got their Symbian support done without anybody in marketing knowing about it. Touché nerds. Touché. &amp;ndash; Jason Chen
