Two American lawyers for an Islamic charity know the government spied on them since the government accidentally gave them proof — though the courts won't let them use the document. On Tuesday, they seemed to have convinced a judge to let the case start anyways and hope to get a ruling on the legality of Bush's warrantless domestic spying program.

The company is not saying how much the OS would cost a potential customer: "The system and its associated integration and consulting services are custom solutions." daveschroeder writes "George Washington University has today released a three-volume history of NSA activities during the Cold War (major highlights). Written by agency historian Thomas R. Johnson, the 1,000-page report, 'Cryptology During the Cold War, 1945-1989,' details some of the agency's successes and failures, its conflict with other intelligence agencies, and the questionable legal ground on which early American cryptologists worked. The report remained classified for years, until Johnson mentioned it to Matthew Aid, an intelligence historian, at an intelligence conference. Two years later, an abstract and the three current volumes of the report are now available (PDF) from GWU and the National Security Archive. Aid, author of the forthcoming history 'The Secret Sentry: The Top Secret History of the National Security Agency,' says Johnson's study shows 'refreshing openness and honesty, acknowledging both the NSA's impressive successes and abject failures during the Cold War.' A fourth volume remains classified. Johnson says in an audio interview: 'If you are performing an operation that violates a statute like FISA, it's going to come out. It always comes out.'" And reader sampas zooms in on a section in Document 6 about the growth of NSA's IT: their first Cray purchase in 1976, the growth of circuits between facilities, and internal feuds over centralized IT development vs. programmers-in-departments. "A young systems engineer named [redacted] was urging NSA to look at some technology that had been developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). ZEIST - FC Utrecht krijgt geen toestemming om het seizoen af te maken met de nog niet volledig bevoegde trainer Ton du Chatinier. Het bestuur betaald voetbal van de KNVB heeft het verzoek daartoe van de Utrechtse clubleiding afgewezen. Het bestuur van FC Utrecht moet derhalve op zoek naar een andere oplossing om het vertrek van hoofdtrainer Willem van Hanegem adequaat op te vangen.De clubleiding heeft tot 17 februari de tijd om de trainersvacature in te vullen. Dan loopt de automatische dispensatieperiode van vier weken af.

Van Hanegem moest, anderhalve maand na het gedwongen vertrek van zijn vier assistenten, eind december zijn functie neerleggen."Hij werd toen op non-actief gezet; van ontslag was en is nog geen sprake. Daarom gaat de periode van automatische dispensatie pas op 17 januari bij de hervatting van de competitie in'', legde directievoorzitter Jan-Willem van Dop woensdagavond uit.
Van Dop
Van Dop benadrukte dat FC Utrecht voorlopig nog niet op zoek gaat naar een andere trainer van buiten de club. De directie wil het seizoen nog steeds het liefst afmaken met de huidige technische stafleden Du Chatinier en Robert Roest, in samenwerking met de voetbalveteranen Nol de Ruiter en Henk Vonk. Van dat viertal zou oud-bondscoach De Ruiter eventueel als supervisor kunnen gaan fungeren."Maar hij mist de benodigde studiepunten, zoals eerder ook Van Hanegem bij ons en Wim Jansen bij Feyenoord overkwam'', erkende Van Dop. Daarvoor zoeken we nu een oplossing. We willen tot het einde van het seizoen geen gekke sprongen meer maken. Nol de Ruiter zou voor ons een goede optie kunnen zijn.''
Du Chatinier
Na het vertrek op 23 december van Van Hanegem nam de nieuwe assistent-trainer Du Chatinier, die dit seizoen de cursus Coach Betaald Voetbal volgt, de eindverantwoordelijkheid op technisch gebied over.Hij heeft de steun van de spelers en de supporters. Technisch directeur Piet Buter, die wel in het bezit is van de hoogste trainerspapieren, meldde zich ziek en keert evenmin terug bij FC Utrecht."We zouden ons eigen licentiereglement tekort doen als we FC Utrecht nu toestemming zouden geven om het seizoen met een nog niet volledig bevoegde trainer te laten afmaken'', liet een woordvoerder van de KNVB weten.

MADRID - Epke Zonderland heeft zondag in Madrid voor een sensatie gezorgd door bij de wereldbekerfinale turnen goud te veroveren op het onderdeel rekstok. De Fries scoorde met zijn oefening 16,175 en troefde daarmee zijn concurrenten af. De Australiër Philippe Rizzo greep zilver (15,825), voor de Japanner Hiroyuki Tomita, die afscheid nam van het internationale circuit: 15,325.Zonderland (22) won in het verleden al twee reguliere wereldbekerwedstrijden. Hij heeft nu zes wereldbekermedailles achter zijn naam, op brug en rek. Tijdens de Olympische Spelen van Peking eindigde hij in de finale op rekstok als zevende, hij kwam tijdens zijn oefening ten val. Tijdens het laatste WK, vorig jaar in Stuttgart, eindigde hij net buiten de medailles als vierde. Het was in Madrid de derde medaille voor een Nederlandse deelnemer. Yuri van Gelder won zaterdag brons op de ringen en Jeffrey Wammes veroverde zilver op sprong.
