Nokia's nieuwe slider-toestellen zijn nogal saai. Dan maar felle kleuren toevoegen, moeten de Finnen hebben gedacht.
Nokia heeft de laatste tijd weinig spektakel te brengen. Ook de twee nieuwe slider-telefoons, de 6700 en 7230, zijn geen uitzondering. Ze zien er redelijk uit en de specificaties zijn best in orde voor de lage prijs, maar het bijzonderste zijn de felle kleurtjes.
De 6700 Slide verschijnt begin volgend jaar in zes kleuren: paars, roze, rood, donkerblauw, aluminium en limoengroen. Hij heeft een 5 megapixelcamera, een 2,2 inch scherm en fm-radio. Het toestel kost circa 160 euro. Nog goedkoper is de tweede nieuwe silder, de 7230, want deze heeft een mindere camera (3,2 megapixel). De 7230, ook in het roze verkrijgbaar, kost ongeveer 100 euro.
Beide toestellen draaien op Symbian, het besturingssysteem dat Nokia al jaren gebruikt. Maar in de high-end toestellen heeft Symbian zijn langste tijd gehad, zo werd onlangs bekend. Nokia continues to step up the companys efforts to integrate more and more Web2.0 application functionality into their phones and to more tightly integrate the mobile experience with Web2.0. Today theyve announced a brand new podcasting application for their S60 3rd edition devices, but particularly the N91 (which was recently profiled here).In paging through the 13 page PDF that constitues a very well down instructional manual it looks as though this is not a half baked product, but a very complete, well thought out and well executed tool that (at least for me) will dramatically augment the functionality of my N91.According the the manual, the Nokia Podcast Application supports, over the air downloads via WCDMA/GPRS or WLAN (which they recommend since it is both faster and you wont be charged for the download), discovery of Podcasts via both search and a directory function, listening to the podcasts (of course!), and sharing of podcasts via bluetooth and MMS which I think is not only a great idea but also demonstrates how functionality that exists in the phone but not an iPod can give the former a real advantage in terms of overall utility and performance.The application is free to download as are virtually all podcasts, the only cost may be for data if you dont have un unlimited plan.
