Het begint ondertussen behoorlijk vervelend te worden voor Mel Gibson. Na zijn antisemitische uitspraken gooide Amerika's meest invloedrijke producer Bernie Brillstein Mel in de ban. Mel hoeft niet meer op de sets van Bernie te verschijnen. Hollywood vedette Rob Schneider (wie kent hem nou niet) plaatste deze pagina grote advertentie in het belangrijkste bekende Amerikanen magazine Variety. Daarin schrijft hij: Ik, Rob Schneider, een halve jood, zweer vanaf vandaag nooit meer te werken met Mel Gibson, acteur-regisseur-producer en antisemiet. Ook andere (niet joodse) acteurs lijken zich aan te sluiten bij deze collegiale acties. Bewoners van het altijd even gezellige Los Angeles doen vrolijk mee met deze "I hate Mel Gibson hype". Men is bezig door de hele stad posters op te hangen met Mel's meest recente politiefoto's erop. Maar er is mogelijk redding voor Mel gekomen uit een onverwachte hoek. Rabbijn David Baron heeft Mel uitgenodigd om een "Gioer" te overwegen. Tja, Mel... Dit geintje kan je voorhuid gaan kosten!

So, of course, the big news in Celebutown this week is Mel Gibson's arrest for DUI while rolling in an LS430 with a bottle of tequila. Somehow, we imagine Mel having a war with his inner Max Rockatansky, but seeing as we doubt the LS was equipped with a faux-blower and most likely did not suck nitro, we'll get down to the tacks. Brass 'em up, boys.The Contra Costa Times has a quick recap of celeb-involved incidents on Highway 1 in Malibu, including Ben Vereen's '93 mowing-down by a motorist, Drake Bell's (who?) classic Mustang crackup, Nick Nolte's GHB-induced arrest (worst cost/benefit of any drug we've ever tried) and Robert Downey, Jr.'s '96 arrest when he was pegged for speeding and ended up having a plethora of illegal goods in his vehicle. Not mentioned, as we are apparently still lowly plebes in the SoCal celeb hierarchy, was our own Malibu incident, which we were forgiven for by Claus Ettenberger in San Diego last week. This just leads us to believe that we are still a notch or two below Drake Bell on the fame ladder. We're not sure if we should be depressed or elated. Two twists in the Mel "blame the Jews" Gibson DUI case, both coming from the website serving up all-Mel all-the-time, TMZ.com. And with this Gibson thing, do we need any more irony...apparently, yes. First, it turns out Gibson made a couple of statements at the height of the PR campaign for Gibson's blockbuster "Passion of the Christ" where he sat down for an interview with Diane "Primetime" Sawyer and made two comments he's now eating and washing down with a cold brewski. Second case of Morissette-ian irony was a PSA Gibson taped back in 2002 on behalf of a sheriff's charity, the LA Sheriff's Star Organization (LASSO). Details after the jump.1.) The Sawyer Interview While laughing off rumors of anti-semitism, Gibson claimed: "for me it goes against the tenants of my faith to be racist in any point." Ok, wait until your done laughing at that one you "warlike Jewish sugar tit" and check out the next statement when he talks to Gibson about alcoholism. "Sometimes I used to drive inebriated, this is at the height of careless stupidity and when you think of that kind of insanity, I look back at that now and go what was I thinking." So does that mean you're looking back on this weekend and wondering not only what were you thinking, but also why your faith doesn't appear to mean a whole lot to you when you're drunk as a skunk? Just curious. 2.) The LASSO PSA Now this shit is just hilarious. Gibson taped this PSA back in 2002. In the spot, Gibson, dressed in a sheriff's uniform, pulls over Scott Baio to thank him for supporting LASSO. He implores viewers, "Give back to those who give so much." We're running on Mac OS X, so we can't see it but from what we understand...nowhere does Gibson call Baio "sugar tits" or "Jew". We're just saying. AMSTERDAM - Oksana Grigorieva, de Russische vriendin van Mel Gibson, is in verwachting. Entertainmentwebsite TMZ meldt dat Gibson zijn vrouw Robyn al op de hoogte heeft gebracht. De 53-jarige acteur, die in scheiding ligt met zijn vrouw, zou ook hun zeven kinderen hebben verteld dat ze weer een broertje of zusje krijgen. Grigorieva zou al enkele maanden zwanger zijn.Robyn maakte op 13 april duidelijk dat ze na een huwelijk van 28 jaar van Mel wilde scheiden. Als reden gaf ze 'onoverbrugbare geschillen' op. Eén van de zeven kinderen van het stel is minderjarig. Robyn en Mel willen de voogdij over het 10-jarige kereltje delen.
