Apple zou in overleg zijn met een aantal filmstudio's om hen ertoe te bewegen hun films via iTunes ter verkoop aan te bieden. Over de kwaliteit van de iTunes-films is nog niets bekend. Als alles volgens plan verloopt, zouden de onderhandeling voor het einde van dit jaar moeten zijn afgerond. Nog geen maand na de première heeft de film De Da Vinci Code wereldwijd ruim 640 miljoen dollar opgebracht. De omstreden rolprent doet het buiten Noord-Amerika beter dan in de Verenigde Staten en Canada, blijkt uit cijfers die Sony Pictures bekend maakte.
In de VS en Canada bracht de film 189 miljoen dollar in het laatje. Elders op de wereld deed de film 453 miljoen dollar, ondanks negatieve recencies en protesten van religieuze fanatici. Two enterprising students are using the Internet to offer people worldwide the chance to be part of an ambitious enterprise to make a million dollar feature-length film - and also gain a world record. Andrew Cargill and Tony Lane, who are studying at the International Film School Wales (IFSW), plan to enlist the help of hundreds of thousands of people, all of whom will be given a credit as Executive Producer on the finished film which they hope to have premiered in the West End.
"We've come up with a novel way of making a million dollar movie that will involve thousands of people all of whom will make up the longest list of credits on a film," said 27-year-old Tony, the writer and director of the film which has the working title of ‘Waking Dreams'.
"Like students everywhere, Andrew and I have dreamed of making a 90 minute film, but as it costs at least a million dollars there's no way we could raise that kind of money. Which is why we came up with the idea for what we're calling the Million Dollar Movie Project.

"Quite simply, via the internet, we invite people all over the world to help fund the film in return for a screen credit as an executive producer. For as little as £3, anyone anywhere could see their name up on the screen - and hopefully, as an added bonus, we'll break a world record for the longest screen credits. At the same time, they will have contributed towards the making of a film which we hope to show in festivals all over the world.
"Hopefully, this project will help open up the world of feature film making, which is why we've come up with the slogan 'The future of film funding starts here!' "
The film, which will be shot in London and Brecon, is about a hard-headed businessman who undergoes a life-changing experience which brings him home to his family in Wales. The crew will comprise students from IFSW, who will also be shooting a documentary charting the making of the film.
"Everyone who joins us and becomes an executive producer will be able to become involved by downloading movies about the film's progress through from auditions to shooting, editing and eventual release. They'll be able to see the film take shape and make comments and contributions through an online forum," said 19-year-old animation student Andrew.
"We're using the revolutionary new form of online advertising, 'Pixel adverts', to help cover the initial costs of the production. People can also advertise their businesses through us which will put them at the top of the producer list but. Advertisers will also receive a free copy of the movie and a ticket to the world premiere. "
The website, www.themilliondollarmovieproject.com, is officially launched at midnight this Friday (27th January) and is already attracting hits from all over the world. What a difference a word can make, in this case it's the word "considers". An earlier Reuters UK news article stated "Canon to halt film camera development", shortly afterwards Reuters were forced to correct this and replace the word 'to' with 'considers', hence "Canon considers halt to film camera development". With this subtle change (and some edits in the article itself) the news is, well, nothing definite. UITGEEST - Een 17-jarige jongen uit Uitgeest (Noord-Holland) is woensdag aangehouden wegens bedreiging. Hij had een filmpje op internet gezet waarin hij leerlingen van zijn school in Castricum met de dood bedreigde. © ANP Dat meldde de politie Kennemerland.De school van de verdachte, het Bonhoeffercollege, werd volgens een verklaring op de eigen website maandag getipt over het filmpje. Daarin zegt de verdachte dat hij een lijst heeft van mensen die hij haat en die volgens hem ''weg'' moeten. De school schakelde de politie in, die de jongen heeft ingesloten.

50 Cent stapt filmindustrie in
AMSTERDAM - 50 Cent blijft zijn imperium uitbreiden. De acterende rapper, die zijn eigen platenlabel, kledinglijn en videospelletjes heeft, is zijn eigen filmproductiemaatschappij begonnen. Dat bevestigde hij tegenover het Britse persbureau Reuters tijdens het Amerikaanse filmfestival Sundance.De artiest, wiens echte naam Curtis Jackson is, heeft zijn nieuwe bedrijf Cheetah Vision gedoopt. De productiemaatschappij heeft al acht filmscripts aangekocht. Het eerste project wordt de boksfilm 'The dance', waarin 50 Cent en Nicolas Cage de hoofdrollen spelen. Wanneer deze film uitkomt, is nog niet bekend.

Aanhouding door vuurwerkfilmpje op YouTube
MAASTRICHT - De politie heeft een 37-jarige man uit Valkenburg (Limburg) aangehouden die zelf vuurwerk fabriceerde. Dat gebeurde nadat de politie na een tip een filmpje vond op YouTube. In het filmpje is te zien hoe de man thuis met vuurwerkbestanddelen bezig is, liet de politie maandag weten.Volgens een woordvoerder van de politie staan op YouTube talloze filmpjes waarop mensen met het maken van vuurwerk in de weer zijn. In de woning van de man in Valkenburg vond de politie onder meer chemicaliën, een elektrisch ontstekingsmechanisme en twee lanceerinrichtingen. De man verklaarde dat hij in zijn woning voor eigen gebruik mortieren en vuurpijlen maakte.
