Advanced Micro Devices has unveiled a lineup of AMD M690 core-logic sets which derive from the company's recently announced AMD 690-series chipsets. The world's second largest manufacturer of x86 central processing units (CPUs) promises that notebooks based on the M690 will feature longer battery life amid improved graphics performance at an affordable price-point. "AMD CPU and GPU technologies work in tandem to deliver increased battery life for mobile workers and consumers who demand a superior graphics and multimedia experience wherever the road takes them," said Phil Eisler, corporate vice president and general manager, AMD chipset division.Technically, AMD M690 chipsets are similar to the desktop AMD 690 core-logic family that combines that combines AMD 690 north bridge with SB600 input/output controller. Currently AMD offers three versions of the core-logic: AMD M690, AMD M690T and AMD M690V. The AMD M690 features integrated DVI/HDMI output, the M690T features DVI/HDMI and additional memory buffer (that AMD calls Display Cache). while the M690V lacks both aforementioned capabilities as well as external PCI Express x16 port. ik heb nu een mac mini onder mijn sony lcdtv hangen, met dvi-hdmi perfect beeld en alles werkt in frontrow, behalve .mkv files, die zet ik om naar .mp4 met visualhub.
dat omzetten gaat tegenwoordig zo rap, (op mbp 2.33 core2duo) dat ik ga experimenteren met het automatisch converteren naar .mp4 van alle tv series die ik binnenkrijg middels een smart folder en automator. (iemand al iets dergelijks uitgevoerd? want ik denk dat ik zoiets moet opzetten maar weet niet hoe )
de mac mini zou als dat werkt en de eerste positieve reviews zien het licht meteen de verkoop ingaan. en zoals al meer gezegd, als de itunes store in nederland /europa meer gaat aanbieden, dan wordt ie interessant. AMD will launch its 690 series chipsets by the end of this month, according the sources from Taiwan-based motherboard makers. AMD acquired chipset and graphics processing unit (GPU) company ATI in October 2006, and this new chipset series for AMD processors comes as a development of the merger. The AMD 690 chipset series will include variants incorporating integrated graphics processors (IGP) based on the former ATI's Radeon graphics technology, and is designed to be paired with the ATI-developed SB600 south bridge, said the sources. At least two IGP versions are planned which promise to offer higher visual performance than current IGP solutions, noted the sources. Additionally, the higher-end variant, the AMD 690G, will offer extra support for features including DVI, HDMI, and HDCP, added the motherboard makers.With Nvidia's range of IGP chipsets such as the GeForce 6100 and 6150 going strong in the market, the release of the 690 series should help AMD win back the market share ATI lost after the two companies merged, added the sources. AMD's development of IGP chipsets not only greatly advances the company's technology it also allows the company to be able to supply its own chipsets that support its CPU without relying on other chipset makers. zojuist de Elgato 610 en EyeTV2 via m'n dual 1 ghz G4 in gebruik genomen. Alle kanalen van home (Essent) lopen keurig binnen. Aan de G4 hangt de Sanyo PLV-Z4 beamer (1280x720) verbonden via een hdmi-kabel waarvoor een verloop dvi-hdmi op de G4 zit. Nu doet zich het merkwaardige fenomeen voor dat de beamer kiest voor een resolutie 800x600 en het beeld als het ware opblaast. Op die manier zijn de randen en het dock in het geheel niet meer te zien. Onwerkbaar dus. Als ik kies voor de vga-uitgang van de mac krijg ik wel het volledige beeld te zien.
