Sennheiser is dropping five new headphones for the world to enjoy. Sennheiser is known for making top notch headphones, so hopefully these will live up to their usual name.
The MX55V Street earbuds retails for $40 and has Sennheiser's Twist-to-Fit design for maximum comfort. They include the Basswind System and a in-line volume control. The MX 51 retails for $30 and is a traditional, or classic earbud. They have rubber earpads for comfort and average sound—nothing too spectacular. The MXL 51 retails for $35 is identical to the MX 51s but the earbuds are integrated into a lanyard—hence the L. The OMX 50 Street retails for $35 and are similar to the previous models mentioned, but they have a behind-the-ear loop form-factor. Lastly is the OMX 52 Street. These are $40 over-the-ear headphones that are super light and supply excellent sound with Sennheiser's top notch technology, including the Basswind System.

DrEldarion writes "Looks like OfficeMax is dropping mail-in rebates. 'Rebates were the #1 customer complaint we were getting,' said Ryan Vero, OfficeMax's chief merchandising officer. Hopefully other retailers will realize what a good idea this is and follow suit." The best part is that the discount is applied now at the register, so those of us who always thought that the rebates were a scam (or were too lazy to mail in the card) finally get some savings.

This a bit of rumor mongering, so take it with a mouthful of salt. A "reader" tells us his "insiders" say the Xbox 360 could be skipping the $100 price drop because they're going to bundle their HD DVD drive with new Premium consoles. Bundling as in just selling both the external HD DVD drive with a standard console and not making the drive internal, like we excitedly thought when we first heard about the rumor. An interesting theory that makes sense in combatting the PS3 onslaught. We'll see come fall. – Jason Chen

Ooh, those spy shots from this morning sure were prescient, weren't they? BMW is capitalizing on the PR two-fer today -- spy shots in the AM, real shots in the late AM -- and talking up the two-fer in changes to the new-for-2007 Beemer SUV. The big story's the engine on the 3.0sd. It's a twin-turbo 3.0-litre diesel with 286 hp in output -- and as BMW says, it's "the most powerful diesel engine ever to power a production BMW in the UK." But BMW claims this isn't just a story about a new engine -- but also a story about the SUV's "slightly tweaked" exterior. These "slight tweaks" include "rear...LED lights" and a "color-coded spoiler" and an interior featuring a "three-spoke steering wheel." What can we say -- we're slightly underwhelmed. The UK edition is expected to drop in September and the US edition should be available in the near future shortly thereafter. Rumors pointed to a $100 price drop for Microsoft's Xbox 360 last week, but now it turns out that the Internet may have lied to us yet again. The latest word from "insiders" who claim to be "in-the-know" have refuted such price drop claims, meaning you'll have to pay the full $399 for the foreseeable future if you want the real Xbox 360.
Given that Sony's PlayStation 3 will require you to take out a second mortgage on your house just to be able to afford it, and that the Wii will be value-priced from the beginning, Microsoft might want to investigate cutting prices just a little bit. A Long Island politician has dropped a federal lawsuit that had claimed
the search engine company Google Inc. profits from child pornography. Jeffrey Toback, a member of the Nassau County Legislature from
Oceanside, filed suit in May claiming Google had "paid links" to Web
sites containing child pornography.
Toback said he dropped the lawsuit because "Google has offered to sit
down and discuss the issues." Google spokesman Steve Langdon said the Mountain
View, Calif.-based company was "pleased that the suit has been dismissed
and believe it was completely without merit."
A formal notice ending the suit was filed Wednesday.
Toback, who has sponsored local legislation raising the age that teenagers
can legally buy cigarettes to 19 and limiting teens' access to tanning salons,
said last month that he filed the lawsuit because oversight of Google was
beyond the purview of county legislators.

Don't believe everything you read, but the Xbox 360 may just be $100 cheaper by the time winter rolls around. This means you could possibly buy an Xbox 360 for half the price of a Playstation 3—quite a deal when you consider the Microsoft console is just as "next generation" as Sony's, save for the whole Blu-ray playback thing.
Nonetheless, if this is true, it would definitely put a damper on the PS3 launch. Why go with a console with first generation launch games that's uber expensive when you can have one that has two Christmases worth of games, some of which are actually pretty good? – Jason Chen

Brand Geldrop slideshow De brand werd even na vier uur in de nacht van zaterdag op zondag gemeld en dreigde zich uit te breiden naar omliggende rijtjeshuizen.In totaal moesten negen personen uit vijf huizen hun woning verlaten. Drie personen zijn naar het ziekenhuis gebracht met ademhalingsproblemen. Zes personen konden rond kwart voor zes zondagochtend weer terug.De oorzaak van de brand is nog onbekend.

Dode bij schietpartij in Geldrop
GELDROP - Bij een schietpartij in een galerijflat in Geldrop is zondagochtend een persoon om het leven gekomen. De politie is op zoek naar twee verdachten. Het gaat om een man en een vrouw van omstreeks 25 jaar. Schietpartij Geldrop slideshow De daders zijn het bos in gevlucht. De twee zouden tijdens hun vlucht een aantal omstanders hebben bedreigd, zo meldt Omroep Brabant.Rond 10.00 uur kwam er een melding binnen van het schietincident in de flat aan de Admiraal Byrdstraat. Bij aankomst op de vijfde verdieping troffen agenten het slachtoffer.
Zoekactie
De politie is inmiddels een grote zoekactie gestart. Daarbij wordt gezocht naar een man en een vrouw die zich na de schietpartij uit de voeten maakten. Vermoedelijk zijn dit de daders, zo meldt de politie, die een sms-alert heeft doen uitgaan.

Geldrop-Mierlo hertelt alle stemmen
RIJSWIJK - De gemeenten Geldrop-Mierlo en Neder-Betuwe hebben donderdag besloten tot het hertellen van de stemmen. Nadat de stemmen voor de eerste keer waren geteld, bleken aantallen niet te kloppen. © ANP Ook in de gemeente Lopik moeten naar alle waarschijnlijkheid de stemmen opnieuw worden geteld. De uitslagen bleken daar verkeerd te zijn verwerkt in de computer.De ChristenUnie denkt door de fout aanspraak te maken op een restzetel die naar de VVD is gegaan. Het is vrijwel zeker dat de gemeente vrijdag begint aan het opnieuw tellen van de stemmen, aldus een woordvoerder. In Geldrop-Mierlo en Lopik gaat het om alle stemmen, in Neder-Betuwe betreft het slechts een deel van de stemmen.
Rotterdam
Ook in Rotterdam wordt gepraat over hertelling. Marco Pastors, voorman van Leefbaar Rotterdam, vindt dat de stemmen opnieuw moeten worden geteld omdat zich ongeregeldheden hebben voorgedaan op stembureaus in de Maasstad.De definitieve uitkomst van de verkiezingen wordt vrijdag rond 10.00 uur bekendgemaakt. Dan wordt ook duidelijk of er daadwerkelijk een hertelling komt.
Zorgvuldigheid
Volgens de Vereniging Nederlandse Gemeenten (VNG) is zorgvuldigheid geboden als het gaat om verkiezingen. Dat er stemmen herteld moeten worden en verkiezingsuitslagen op zich laten wachten, ''is dan maar zo'', liet een woordvoerder van de VNG weten.Aan het aanbod van personeel kan het volgens de VNG niet liggen. Volgens de woordvoerder zijn er dit jaar ''meer dan genoeg'' medewerkers ingezet om de stemmen te tellen.
